Why I juice

Juicing is one of the best ways to get more fruits and vegetables into a diet. Fresh fruit and vegetables help improve the immune system, fight off disease, increase energy, clear skin and improve overall health. I found that I was not eating enough fresh foods in my diet, so I started juicing in May 2019.

This is part of my daily routine at least 4-5 times a week.

I love it and my daughter even does it with me.

Types of juicers

Centrifugal juicers: These are the most common type of home juicers and are easily found at local shopping stores.. Centrifugal juicers chop your fruits and vegetables up into fine pieces while spinning the bits at very high speed, separating the juice from the pulp.

They are often less expensive and easier to clean compared to masticating juicers.

Masticating juicers: Also known as “cold press” or “gear” juicers. They work by grinding the fruits and vegetables to break them up, then pressing the bits through a strainer. Masticating juicers juice greens more effectively than centrifugal juicers do. .However, they are more expensive than centrifugal juicers

My juicer experience

My first juicer was a Breville Juice Fountain. I purchased it as the cost was better for my budget, but the speed and the efficacy of it was awful. In the long run, I was spending more money purchasing fruits and vegetables, and I was not getting the amount of juice I needed.

That was a quick return to the store. I had read amazing reviews on Omega juicers, so I hoped for the best. I chose and love the Omega J8006HDS Nutrition Center Quiet Dual-Stage Slow Speed Masticating Juicer

It is effective, easy to clean and even looks classy. It’s all about trial and error when you purchase a juicer

The produce

The fruit and vegetables are the most important part of juicing. Here a few tips that work for me to reduce waste and make the healthiest juice possible!

When you shop for ingredients you will need fruits and vegetables that produce more liquid and add volume. Buy all organic if possible and clean off fruits and vegetables. I use fit spray or even apple cider vinegar and spring water.. Carrots, green apples, cucumbers and celery are a great base.

It is important to use fruits and vegetables containing vitamins and even color. I love leafy greens, beets and all fruit. I even add flavorful herbs or spices. My favorite flavor additions are mint leaves and fresh ginger. A variety makes it fun and tasty.

My favorite juicing recipe

Anti inflammatory Juice

  • 2 green apples
  • 2 cucumbers
  • 4 stalks of celery
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 knob of ginger

Just remember Juicing like any other healthy habit is built up one day at a time. Start today. I know you won’t regret it.
