Maybe you have heard of dry brushing and maybe you have not; regardless, it’s time to get started. I personally thought it was a hoax when I first was told about it. A great friend told me how well it worked for her and I am glad I have been dry brushing for over a year.

HOW DOES DRY BRUSHING WORK?

Dry brushing helps quickly increase your blood circulation and “wake up” your lymph system by promoting lymphatic drainage. Not to mention it exfoliates your skin, helps unclog your pores, and stimulate your nervous system. This makes you feel awake and energized. Of course, sign me up.

CHOOSE YOUR BRUSH

I have used 4 different dry brushes. Some of the bristles are too hard, some are too soft, and some are perfect. I recently found a new one that is VEGAN, Cruelty-Free, Guilt-Free, and effective. It even includes many added bonuses too.

The bristles are important to me. Most other brands use and claim that boar bristles are cruelty free when, let’s face it, they are not. The bristles on the brush I chose are SISAL BRISTLES.???? This fiber is made from Agave plant, so it’s 100% vegan and natural and has the same exfoliating benefits as boar, but without exploiting animals in the process. Plus, the 2 SIDED LONG BRUSH HEAD is made of bamboo and reaches everywhere.

WHEN SHOULD YOU DRY BRUSH

The best time to dry brush is just before a shower and even before your sauna session. It gives you a chance to exfoliate the dry skin, then open up the pores with the warm water or the warm heat.

HOW TO DRY BRUSH

It’s super simple… You use short strokes with the brush starting distally and working towards your core (start at the feet and work upwards with quick brushes towards the heart). Same goes for your arms—start at the tippy-tip of your fingers and brush up your arms towards your heart. On your abdomen, brush in a clockwise circle to follow the flow of your intestines.

BONUS TIP: I always pay extra special attention to where the lymph nodes of the body are (under the armpits, near the groin, and under the jawline) to do my best to stimulate them and their detox process. This entire dry brushing process usually takes me around 3 minutes total.

TIP: Try to be gentle when brushing—you do not want to be too aggressive as it can actually break the skin’s integrity and do more harm than good.

HOW TO CLEAN THE BRUSH

With this particular brush, simply rinse off the bristles, but do not emerge in water. I add a few drops of Organic tea tree oil to mine.
